What do you think will be the biggest impact of Brexit for your clients?
The most important factors on which a possible relocation decision is based, will be the development in the areas of tax, legal certainty and employment. Regarding tax, it is unknown what effect Brexit will have on taxation fields such as VAT & customs regulations, corporate income tax and withholding tax. When it comes to legal uncertainty, this is caused by the absence of rules on how the British courts will deal with future rulings by the European Juridical Court.
Legal uncertainty also influences future employment: UK labour law is mainly based on European law, and it remains to be seen to which extent European law will be transposed into British law on the long term.
Lastly, Brexit causes uncertainty regarding possible imposed work- and residence permits. Luckily, there is a chance that a simple and rapid immigration procedures will apply post-Brexit.
